FFK distances itself from Johan Derksen video tied to Curaçao home jersey launch

WILLEMSTAD (DA) — The Curaçao Football Federation (FFK) has distanced itself from a video featuring Johan Derksen at the FFK Fanshop in Sambil that it said created the impression he officially presented Curaçao’s new home jersey.

FFK said Saturday that the video was not an initiative of the federation, was not produced at its request and that it had no involvement in its creation, production or presentation.

The federation said Curaçao’s home jersey was officially unveiled Thursday, May 21, at 9:30 a.m. at Sambil by two FFK board members. The presentation took place ahead of the worldwide launch of an adidas campaign video at 11 a.m.

That campaign featured local personalities, including a kit man, a bus driver and the captain of supporters group Liga Blauwie, along with several Curaçao national team players representing the new jersey.

FFK said it later became aware of the video involving Derksen, who appeared at the FFK Fanshop in Sambil at approximately 11:15 a.m., after the official presentation had already taken place.

The federation said questions and reactions had arisen within parts of the community and that it considered it important to provide clarity on the situation.

FFK added that official communications, campaigns and presentations on behalf of Curaçao’s national team take place exclusively through authorized federation channels and official partners.
